DOMAIN 2: CREATING AND SUSTAINING A SAFE AND SUPPORTIVE CULTURE
Item 7
To what extent is the use of support to address the cumulative impact of trauma exposure normalized in your organization?
Strategies:
Create time in the day for staff to engage in peer support.
Set aside a central area where information on support is available (either online or offline) and is kept updated.
Encourage supervisors to regularly discuss what supports are available to their staff to address STS during supervision, group meetings, etc.
Leaders and supervisors should encourage the use of supports and share their relevant experiences related to receiving support to serve as a role model for staff.
Ensure information about supports are in places where staff can easily see this information (e.g., posted in the lunchroom, regularly communicated via emails or newsletters).
