Does your organization have an STS training plan?

Strategies:

• Ensure that ongoing training on STS is provided to both new and current staff. As there are a lot of STS training resources available to CACs, it is helpful to develop a plan that includes how to select training content, the frequency of which the training will be conducted, and which training opportunities will be geared toward new or existing staff or both.
• Incorporate in your training plans the following: when and how new staff will receive STS training; a mechanism to ensure that all staff receive basic STS training; and a plan for providing ongoing/advanced STS training to all staff.
  Include in your plan the frequency of training and a process to select training content, format, and resources. For example:
  • An annual STS training may involve bringing in a trainer to talk about a specific topic related to STS, such as how STS intersects with culture.
  • During quarterly team meetings, watch and discuss a webinar together.
  • Allow staff to choose from a list of STS webinars and videos and ask them to provide a summary to the team or their supervisor.
