Becoming secondary trauma-informed is an ongoing process that requires continuous evaluation and monitoring. Even agencies that are doing well at addressing STS across all domains may face setbacks over time due to staff turnover, changes in systems or processes, and the socio-political context changes (such as community violence, changes in leadership, and new mandates or requirements that impact working conditions). Having a plan for regularly evaluating and monitoring STS among staff and STS-informed policies and practices helps agencies adapt to these changes and the evolving needs of staff related to STS.
